Make a difference to the marine life on and around some of the world’s most colourful reefs with the help of voluntourism and donations.
Comprising more than 330 islands, 4,000 square miles of reefs, and 1,500 species of sea life, there are plenty of reasons to volunteer on our Marine Research & Conservation program in Fiji.
Take the opportunity to learn to scuba dive or extend your skills in the incredible marine environment of the Yasawa Islands. Then take your new skills and begin conducting underwater surveys in the warm, turquoise waters of the South Pacific. Visit traditional villages and get to know the community, meet the headmen and children, and support their learning about environmental marine conservation and sustainable fishing practices.
The remote village environment and expected working hours required for the volunteer programs are not suitable for children, therefore we have a minimum age policy of 16 years.
Volunteers in this area (participating in focused Marine Research programs, not the packaged shorter programs) need to have their Open Water Dive certification (this can be done prior to their volunteer program at Mantaray Island Resort if needed in 5 days).
Data is a resource that is invaluable in the field of Marine Research. Alongside our highly experienced team of staff, the information that you collect will enable us to establish Marine Protected Areas that will provide long terms benefits to the local community and help guarantee food security for future generations. The data collected is shared with the Manta Trust, Fiji Fisheries, University of South Pacific, Marine Ecology Fiji & GCRMN (Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network).

As most voluntourists choose to stay and travel around Fiji for a period before or after their voluntourism program, they should all enter the country on a 'Visitor/Tourist Visa' which can be obtained for a period of up to 3 months. There is currently no specific visa for volunteers in Fiji and as volunteering is NOT considered work under Fiji's immigration requirements, you do not need a work visa.
Itineraries can be custom-built to include your choice of volunteer categories.
